About Us & What We Do...
Soroptimist International Mission Statement is "Improving the lives of women and children in local communities and through the world".Soroptimists seek to become an active influence for positive change in society through Awareness, Advocacy and Action.
Our Rockwall club is committed to these principles through our service to local, national and international communities. Due to the success of our annual WomenAid fundraiser we are able to provide:
Education to improve employment opportunities to Rockwall area women
Annual scholarships to high school Rockwall seniors
Medical screenings and equipment to Helping Hands Clinic
Financial support to numerous organizations both locally and internationally
Another Soroptimist principle is to promote social justice, social equity and the empowerment of women through economic independence and greater participation on decision making at all levels. This is accomplished through various projects such as Eloise's Closet and Expect Respect.As a club, we strive to meet the challenge of every aspect of the Soroptimist Mission.
Why Get Involved Reason #2: Women are underserved and overlooked too often in many societies. Your help and generous contribution helps change the cultures of our socity into being one that cares for our most precious treasures.
Eloise's Closet
We all need a helping hand some times and for women returning to the workforce, that helping hand comes in the shape of a new wardwrode to go back to work in! Eloise's Closet has outfitted women who are re-entering society after facing their addictions, mistakes and struggles in life. Women leave Eloise's looking and feeling like they can conquer the world!
International Projects
Loving the people in our community is just part of what we do. Our love for women and children has taken our work around the globe. From buildign a ktichen in Nigeria for a women's hospital to educating girls in war torn areas, we are committed to the lived of women both near and far...
Stars Project
LSearving areas senior citizens is a love of our club. There are amny in our community who are in need and don't have family near by to help. We have stepped in to help fill that need by celebrating special moments, bringing food, gifts and resources to the homes of our beloved STARS Members.
Expect Respect
Teen dating violence is never an easy subject to face but we have decided that is reason enough for us to get involved. Our teens are dealing with issues we never thought possible in our youth and through the We Expect Respect Program we are creating healthier, safer relationships for teens and their future's.
